Food and culture and all that is a weird thing in the globalization trend...when we were in Ireland almost all the food was this fusion crap. We noticed in places like Dublin there was this whole wanna be Paris or New York thing going. We stopped an got lunch in Skibereen and the place was playing Sinatra. I suppose the turn has something to do with trying to be more of a player in the world economic market, but it just sucks to fly across the ocean and feel like I am in NYC.
At any rate, kudos to you for appreciating your wife Jesse. Whenever I cook for Mike these days he slathers it in ketchup!

I dunno if there's anything in this - and I don't mean anything by it one way or another - but when I was in Dublin I had Kentucky Fried Chicken in some plaza and it was the fucken BEST Kentucky Fried I've ever had; wrong, it wasn't even like Kentucky Fried, it was real, juicy (sorta roast) chicken. An unlikely culinary adventure. And as regarding globalization, ie. fucken Starbucks everywhere (I remember when I first saw one in Sydney I had no idea what it was ... does 'Starbucks' really say 'coffee' to you ?? I s'pose you've had it for so long it's even more synonymous ... sorry, tangent there, as regarding globalization (*and can I recommend Naomi Klein's 'No Logo' to everyone), how's the bloody 'Birdy O'Farty's' Irish theme pub thing ? My missus told me they've even got 'em in Rome. Anyone for some 'Blarney Stone Chips', 'Irish Rover Ribs' and 'Molly Malone's Seafood Basket' ? I'm not joking, last time I was in one of those McDonalds Pubs, that was what was on offer.
Real English & Irish pub food, though, can't be beaten. Good pub grub can't be beaten, full-stop.
Righto, I'm off to get pissed on a crate of Dutch lager, as rain drifts down from the darkening grey skies of Melbourne Town, Granite Jewel of the once & former empire ...
GOOD EATIN', DRINKIN', PIPING, SKANKIN' & SHAGGIN' TO YEZ ALL !!!

Yep,all depends on where you go. you can really tell if a pub is in it for love or money by the little things like that, some people want to make a major "Euro City" out of Dublin,I'd hate that.
